In this workshop, we explore the processing of our eight sensory systems (yes, eight!) and their role in early learning and development, especially for children with exceptional sensory needs. With just a few key strategies, providers can assemble a variety of sensory processing activities and materials to meet all types of sensory needs, even when space and time is limited. We will discuss: sensory diets, sensory bins, and everyday materials; energy release activities – heavy work AND mental work; and energy calming practices – for all children’s well being. Using these tools and strategies, we will examine how to create inclusive environments and curriculum that help your kiddos harness their energy and transform it into productive, meaningful learning experiences.
